How to add your signature in Gmail (6 steps)
- Create your signature. Fill the form in the generator, choose one of the 12 templates (4 are free), and press Copy signature.
- Open Gmail settings. In Gmail on the web, click the gear icon (⚙️) top-right and choose See all settings.
- Go to the Signature section. Stay on the General tab and scroll down to Signature. Click + Create new and give it a name.
- Paste. Click inside the empty signature box and press Ctrl+V (Mac: Cmd+V). The full formatting — colors, logo, social buttons — comes with the paste.
- Set the defaults. Under Signature defaults, pick your new signature for both For new emails and On reply/forward.
- Save. Scroll to the bottom and click Save Changes. Compose a new email to check it.
Tips that save headaches
- Don't edit the signature inside Gmail. Gmail's editor can mangle carefully built HTML. If something looks wrong, go back to the generator, adjust, and re-copy.
- Paste once, directly. Pasting over an existing plain-text signature can leave leftovers — start from an empty signature box.
- Mobile apps reuse it. The Gmail apps don't have a signature editor; they use the one you set on the web, so this one-time setup covers phone and tablet too.
- Check dark mode. Our templates avoid pure black/white so the signature stays readable when Gmail renders on dark backgrounds. Toggle the Dark preview in the generator to see it.
FAQ
Why does my Gmail signature lose formatting?
Usually because it was edited inside Gmail's editor after pasting. Paste the HTML signature directly from the generator and leave it untouched there — fix anything by re-copying from the generator.
Can I use this in Gmail on my phone?
Yes — the mobile apps use the signature configured in Gmail on the web. Set it once and you're done.
Is the generator really free?
The 4 starter templates are free forever, with no signup and no forced watermark. Pro unlocks all 12 templates, HTML download and saved profiles.
